Earth Siege - Chapter 10 - Re-arm, New destination!

I'm sorry i've been very absent (I know I kinda lost interest :p anyways) here is the next chapter, since it's been almost a year I may be writting differently from what I did, but oh well ^^ here goes

The team moved through the corridors silently, like ghosts that haunt the living, this time the formation wasn't planned out and everyone relied on intelligence and battle sense to position themselves within the walkways and rooms. "The armory is right aroun the corner, let's move, we need to get this pilot and the new recruit equipped, chances are they'd not even reach the hangar in their current weaponry state..." Shade directed to the team and they all nodded, everyone was lost in their thoughts, their friends, their companions, a little bit of humanity was destroyed and perished within this very own HQ and that bothered them, deeply... "Well there's the Armory, I hope it's full of ammo, i can already imagine it" Nop said almost drooling himself about tons of excellent weaponry inside the room, "Don't get your hopes too high..." Flynn said probably knowing that all the guns have been used for self defense by the HQ personel, Silenx agreed with Flynn and creeped up an unknown smile. "Wait everyone..." the captain said over at the front, something wasn't right. "What it is Shade? what do you see?" Hurricane asked him curiously, readying her Desert Eagles, "It's just that.." suddendly he was interrupted by an invisible force that came from an adjacent dark corridor and rammed him torwards some barrels near the Armory door, everyone shouted his nickname afraid that he might die, "Argh, you god damn demon!" the fallen marine couldn't finish his sentence as the demon charged to bite him right where he was downed in the floor, as a reflex Shade picked up a nearby barrel and stuck it in the Invisible Pinkie's mouth , the barrell started to bend as dent's could be seen in its surface. Flynn didn't wait any longer he aimed and let out several shotgun shells onto the pinky who fell on all his weight right on top of Shade... "Awww man, that's a mess... you'r full of demon blood and you have one on top of you, that sounds suspicious... virgin demon?!" Blaze said and everyone imploded their laughter since it would give out too much attention to them, only Flynn didn't laugh at the rather impolite joke. The marine lifted the monstrosity with all its strength and forced himself out of it's weight and onto is feet "Now I'm better... let's go to the armory then, Hurricane and Nop you go up front i'll follow you behind and the rest follow me" he ordered the squad and they entered the armory.

The lights were out inside the armory, Silenx took the liberty of turning them on to reveal, for Nop's surprise an almost empty room "No! you were right... argh!" Nop's mood sunk, "Told you so" Silenx said remembering that he had agreed with Flynn, "Well, pick up everything you can, Pilot.. err" Shade read the name tag of the pilot and continuned "Pilot Barret and private Lucifel, grab some better gear to defend yourselves, the rest of the squad grab only what ammo you need...", instantly a not too loud "Yes, sir" was heard Flynn remained silent, guarding the wallway outside of the armory, the captain approached him "Is something wrong, Flynn?", the Heroic marine inspected the area with is experiencied gaze and replied "something's not right, everything is too quiet, and inside that armory we're sitting ducks, we have no escape whatsoever, this door is the only exit..." the captain nodded in confirmation and motioned the others to get a move on. Silenx dropped Breeze on the floor gently as she was beginning to move again, "Are you awake yet, Breeze?" he asked with a gentle voice, and she opened her eyes slowly and regained counsciouness "Yes I'm.. I'm fine I guess, where am I?", "You are at the armory of the HQ, we are heading torwards the Hangar again, we already have our objectives, can you walk?" Silenx asked her and she nodded in reply, lifting herself to her feet and stretching... meanwhile everyone was already exiting the armory.

Hurricane approached Shade who was waiting in the wallway for everyone, and was getting impatient, he was inspecting his DBS and looked down on the floor aswell... the customized armor fit his body perfectly, and his "old" style helmet made him look different, and more powerfull or trustfull in some way... he looked up to see that she was coming his way and he straightened himself a bit, "So... How are you captain?" Hurricane asked him with a gently voice, "Please don't call me captain, I'm just doing this now because... *sigh* forget it Hurricane, we'll talk about this later when we're safe" he said trying to smile behind is visor although she couldn't see him eitherway, she gazed upon him for a while longer and then until Shade felt uncomfortable and turned away his gaze from her... he was now standing straightned and Hurricane couldn't resist but to take the oportunity to hug him, earning more and more his heart and making him blush. Meanwhile everyone was ready to go, Lucifel looked at Hurricane hugging the captain and thought they look cute, althought they were fully armored and with helmets on, he suddendly remember the love of his life...

Lucifel Flashback - It has been 2 years since i've been with my girlfriend in person... i've been writting her lately, she's enlisted in the army after the invasion and she's fighting just like me, I hope she's ok, she hasn't written in a while but with the destruction of this HQ i'm thinking I won't be talking to her for a while... I hope she's fine, and I sincerely hope I can find her somehow, in the middle of this war in an HQ or anywhere else, I hope to find her... we were happy before the demons invaded,we were already planning to go and live together but all was ruined! why? why? why did they have to come? it isn't fair! god damn you all!

Armory/HQ - "Well everyone's buckled up and fully armed, next objective, to the hangar everyone..." Shade commanded and in a straight line they followed Blaze who was now the scout of the squad. Unnorganized desks, litter and broken lamps decorated the cold walkways of the HQ, lively in the past, a metal desert in the present... the squad entered a room, experiment tables and chemistry was what was mostly seen, a rather large laboratory room was where they were found, they stood in the middle of it, trying to be aware of any movement, every shadow, and suddendly in the large, desk and lab material filled room a loud sound that caught the squad unprepared was heard, something or somethings were close, and they made a mistake with the noise... everyone raised their weapons in search of the possible threat. "Come out, come out wherever you are" Nop said smiling and gave out a low evil laugh that was silenced by Silenx backhand slap "Shut up, I think you wanna die... very early" he said with an ironic tone in his voice and Nop stopped joking. Another loud noise was heard, "They are trying to get us cornered, plus they are toying with us" Flynn concluded and Shade replied "What demon's are they?", "I'm not sure, maybe Pinkies, not invisible ones though... the Pinkies are dumber than the invisible ones, don't ask why" the veteran marine concluded, "So lets spread out so we can confuse them, and get them one by one... the room is big enough for that" Hurricane said and Breeze continued "I agree, it'd be easier, if we stand here together they might all come at us and if they are indeed many, we won't stand a chance" Blaze nodded in confirmation to the girls idea, Shade motioned everyone to spread out but keep down and hidden between the desks and not to exit the room they were for now, everyone acknowledged and spread through the area.

":fzzzt: No sign of movement yet" Blaze confirmed through the intercom, ten minutes had passed and still no threat in the are, only sounds echoed through the metalised base... ":fzzzt: I hate this waiting if they just come we'd be out of here and out of this wretched HQ, here we are just wishing ourselves to be killed" Silenx interrupted the silence that had installed itself in everyone's ears... " :fzzzt: Shut the hell up Silenx, If you... CRAP! " Hurricane shouted over th intercom and across the room yellow and white flashes mixed with the sound of Hurricane's DE's were seen and heard, she was rammed against a nearby deks by the Pinkie but before he could finish her off she planted all her clips into the beasts body, falling to the ground with a loud *thump*, she reloaded and crouched still " :fzzzt: They are coming... prepare yourselves " Flynn said over the intercom and pumped his shotgun, as soon as he finished what he said, growls were heard in every direction, and followed by that Shade's voice echoed in the Lab room "you bastards, come over here!", everyone looked around and found Shade in the center of the room with two Pinkies behind him, Hurricane feared the worst and as she was about to yell for him he turn around quickly jumping to his side and planting a loud *BOOM* at the closest beast, sending the hunk of meat flying and hitting the other Pinkie in the back, Shade's laughter was heard over the intercom as he jumped on a desk and reloaded is DBS, executing the other downed pinkie with a nice blood spray in the end...

Around the room everyone was already firing, the demons we're coming at full strenght with no regrets or fear of death, they charged the team furiously, the Pilot and Lucifel stuck together because they weren't as ready as the rest of the team to face the horrors that threatened them all, but still they were aware and helped wherever they could, the pilot couldn't die, and the Marine Private wouldn't want to get himself killed either... ":fzzzt: Argh, these just keep coming if they'd just, AHHHH! " A painfull scream was heard from Blaze's position and when the squad had the time to look they saw a pinkie on top of blaze, he was shooting is pistol in the demon's belly but little to no effect it was having, the beast bit blaze's forearm, and ripped it clean off, a bone chilling sound of ripping flesh, spraying blood and bone breaking was heard in his position, "NO!" Shade ran torwards Blaze, memories of the loss of his team now filling his mind...

The extermination of the extermination Squad number 2 - Shade yelled out orders to his companions, and brother's in arms, they ran from the demons and the captain ordered his soldiers to enter a narrow courtyard, thinkg that it would be easily defended , the team positioned themselves inside the courtyard "Get a move on, position yourselves tactically around the area they are going to come from that only entrance so defend it with all you can! they aren't small enough to enter those wooden doors over that, and that's our only escape if we can't hold them out, so concentrate men!" Shade ordered his team and they all positioned themselves, soon around the entrance two hellknights comanded the ranks of mancubus and imps behind them, one of the hellknights shouted in the most gruesome voice Shade had ever heard... "Permissum suum cruor repleo nostrum os , quod suum organus pingo is plagiarius , permissum lemma intereo!" all the demons roared and growled, their voices filling the air, and they charged torwards the team attacking with flames balls and fire balls while the hellknights commanded the incoming force, the team managed to reduce their numbers but they we're heavily out numbered... "I made a mistake we shouldn't have came here, Shit" Shade said and right after one of his teams squad members was hit in the helmet with a fire ball, a smell of burnt flesh was emitted from the corpse, his head boiling inside the furnace like helmet now, "DAMN YOU!" everyone shouted and killed one of the hellknights followed by some mancubus. Fireballs hit the statue in the center of the courtyard, grass was pure black, burnt, lifeless the statue fell near one of the squad members with a *CRASH* an imp jumped and landed in front of a squad member, he grabed him and clawed his armor, the marine kicked the demon away and landed a punch on his face, sending him flying against another imp, "You want some more? come and get it!" the soldier shouted and fired his plasma rifle, the air was filled with bullets, plasma rockets, flame balls and most uniquely, the sound of death and warcries. Bullet filled demon bodies decorated the floor and stained the grass, soon the squad had lost a total of 3 members and the demons were all exterminated... "I made a mistake... we shouldn't have come!" Shade yelled to himself, the squad members pat him on the back for comfort, as they were leaving the windows of the nearby buildings filled themselves with imps, shower of fireballs, like meteorites hit the squad, instantly killing all but the squad leader, they fell dead in front of him, and with no other chance the captain escaped through the wood door... regretting what he had done...

Lab room - Shade ran torwards blaze and his vision turned blood red again, "LET HIM GO" he shouted and landed a kick with all his might on the beasts stomach, a loud bone breaking sound was heard and the beast squealed in pain as he hit a nearby desk, Blaze was bleeding and was risking death, he was already in shock state, Shade ordered breeze and Hurricane to come and take care of him, and so the girls ran across the room firing at the nearby monsters and reached the downed marine, Hurricane looked at Shades visor and behind it she saw an angered face, Shade... she thought to herself, Flynn was undamaged, unscathed and not tired, and he had killed several Pinkies already, and what the Pinkie did to Blaze was nothing compared to what he had seen already, he continued killing off the Pinkies, but still they almost managed to hurt him... Shade jumped on top of one of the desks and shot his DBS while reloading frantically *BOOM* was the loudest sound heard along with his cursing. " :Fzzzt: Shouldn't we try and and go back to the hangar?! we should exit this place, and we have a wounded man!" Private Lucifel shouted in the intercom, everyone agreed and Shade picked up Blaze "Come on man, hold on" they ran out of the lab, Flynn in the rear, the pilot and Lucifel in the middle and the Shade up front, throught the way growls and unholy screams were heard behind them, Pinkies were running right behind them.

Flynn pumped his shotgun frantically and but they were gaining pace, the team entered the hangar, it was now filled with formed humans, "Die you abominations, you should have stayed dead" Silenx shoutend and emptied his plasma rifle, followed by Nop's shoulder mounter chainguns, who pierced everyones ears and diminished the humans as the squad ran torwards the Ship, the zombies opened fire and several shots hit Nop in the belly and legs "Crap! I'm hit..." he said and limped torwards the ship, the Pilot, Lucifel and Shade boarded first, Shade layed down Blaze and came out of the ship with his DBS, helping the others get in the ship, the sound of ricochetting metal was the main sound heard and again Hurricane was hit, Shade saw it and he picked her up right way, several bullets hit his armor and his back "Urgh" Shade grunted, "You don't have to carry me, I'm not that weak.." She stated although she liked what he was doing, "It's nothing.." he dropped her gently inside the ship and motioned Flynn to come in, he was the only one left... "No, I'll stay, I can handle myself, i've handled tougher things believe me... i'll meet up with you in the spaceport, mark my word, I'll be there!" Flynn replied and saluted Shade even while fighting, Shade saluted back "Yes sir, I hope you make up for what you said" he said with a smile, those words hit Flynn pretty hard, especially the "sir", but he shook them off and waved.

The hatch closed with a hissing hidraulic sound, and the pilot lifted the ship up and exited the hangar... as quickly as possible, Shade saw Flynn killing the remaining former humans and exiting the hangar, Indeed an incredible marine... he thought to himself and ordered the Pilot "Find the nearest HQ to the space port in the map, we are making a stop there for a good night's rest, if you can warn them that we're coming, I want the best quarters they have, and consider this as your last order for me, I won't command this squad, I'm not fit for it, thats all" he finished and the team looked at him, they all took their helmets off and so did Shade, he layed down turning himself torwards the dropships wall, the pilot replied "err, I'm on it sir...", Everyone took care of his wounds, but Shade didn't care about that, blood flowed out of his gashes and bullet holes in the armor, but for some reason he didn't feel hurt, its like the bullets had just penetrated a little in his skin, due to his armor being there to protect him... Hurricane approached him and whispered in his ear, "Are you ok? don't you need to take care of your hounds?", Shade shook his head negatively, she wasn't convinced although she respected his decision "It wasn't your fault what happened to Blaze.." she said and he looked at the armless soldier who was being treated by breeze and was now out of danger... "Maybe" he said and turned around to the ships wall again but now was sitting instead of laying down on the floor, Silenx hung around Breeze and comforted her while Nop, was frowning just to see is best friend without an arm and almost get killed. Hurricane hugged Shade and kissed his cheek, "Really it wasn't your fault, you did save him remember? if you weren't there he might be headless.. or worse", "Yeah thats a real comforting thought" he replied with a bit of sarcasm and turned around to gaze at her eyes, her brown greenish eyes were shining like the ones of a child and she blushed and turned away her gazer from him, "I like your eyes, your weapons fit you well, you have sharp eyes, like the ones of a real eagle" Shade complimented her and she blushed even more, "Well everyone we have a few hours of trip ahead, so relax for a bit" Lucifel said to everyone and they nodded, he was also drifting away into his thoughts "I hope when we get to the HQ we have some real nice quarters, I need to lay down for a bit, I'm getting old for this" Lucifel continued a bit jokingly trying to light up the mood but it was very hard to do that right now, Shade pulled Hurricane out of nowhere torwards him and hugged her this time, she was amazed and red faced like hell, but she liked it... A few hours of flight awaited them and they relaxed, waiting for their destination...

Earth Siege - Chapter 9 - New Objective!

Each of the team members took a seat and relaxed vigorously from the hard effort they had to subject themselves in the last fight... "Oh man... we were almost shred to pieces down there, my body hurts like hell" Silenx said laying down his Plasma Gun and sitting beside Breeze, she hugged him lovingly and rested herself in his arms... "We made it, and that's what counts for now... we have our objective, and nothing is going to stop us from fulfilling this mission, plus the following mission's that are going to be assigned to us for finding such an important person... Flynn" Shade said trying to encourage the team members.. assuring them that it would be all ok... but as they say happy endings rarely make themselves happen.

The squad rested and talked to each other, trying to understand better what was happening before they boarded the dropship... Flynn took a step up and began talking, "What happened was simple... it was just a sample of what the Demons can do... they are vicious monsters, even more when they are invisible like those... you'd recognize them by their pink colour skin, menacing yellow eyes that light up when they move for an attack... and more dangerously, their jaws... they could bite half a man if they had the pure chance, I fought lots of them back in Hell and Deimos, and I can say that they are really just a sample... and you can expect lots of them from here on...", they all looked at his explanation and clearly understood that he knew what he was talking about.. afterall he had been to hell and back, "Yeah we understand... and we know our next move... I'm guessing that the HQ will send us to fight like you did... but this time they will send us through a variety of complexes to reach the source of evil... Baphomet!" Shade said to the team with confidence and most of all, he knew that it was going to happen just like that... "So... we are going to have a hell of a fight then, great I'm up for a challenge!" Nop said standing up and shook his fist in the air.
Hurricane moved closer to Shade, hugged him and said "You can also count on me", and the rest of the team members acknowledged, they all understood what had to be done and that it was going to be accomplished wether it would be the easy way or the hard way. "Heads up people, we got an Incoming Transmission from the commander in the HQ, listen up" the pilot said over the intercom and played the transmission... *fzzzt* Archang... *fzzzt* you're the only squad left, all of the personel has been wi... *fzzzt* t, you'r next mission is in the marine command center... *fzzzt* we've been attacked by the hellish for...*fzzzt* and there is no one left... I will soon join them... *fzzzt*" A loud crackling sound could be heard where the comander was standing as if a door was beeing breached "They are almost in my compartment..*fzzzt* get the mission, accomplish it and lo...*fzzzt* ammo and weapons in the armory... I'm the commander of this HQ and.. *fzzzt*" from the other side bone chilling screams were heard and finally, the voice of the commander was heard... a loud scream of pain and agony made the commanders end, just before the radio went completely static the most sensible ones heard a piece of flesh being ripped from the commanders body...

"God..." Blaze said in a whisper, words were trapped in everyone's throat as they heard the radio static from the trasmission soon fade away, Flynn was calm and what had happened had little to no effect on him... "People, we are going to do just as the commander said... Pilot, to the HQ as fast as you can..." Shade said directing to the pilot who replied "Sir, yes sir! I'm on it". The dropship picked up speed and flew torwards the HQ... soon the wreckage was in view, flames danced around the top and the windows of the building, the hangar bay was clear of fire and the dropship made it's way into it... with a humming sound it periodically lost speed and came into a stop inside the hangar bay... the squad healed themselves with the last medikits inside the dropship and as soon as the doors of the ship opened they jumped out... the pilot accompanied them out of the aircraft armed with only a pistol... they all entered extreme alert mode with their weapons always raised, Silenx noticed that the pilot only used a standard issue pistol "Are you thinking of making out alive with just a pee shooter? may God forgive the insane..." for some reason most of the team members let out a giggle on that one, the pilot blushed in embarassment and fear of death...

"Alright people, let's move torwards the marine command center... we have no time to loose, we are the Archangel's and there is no stopping us!" Shade said, confidence filling his mind, the team all shouted "Hurrah" and they slowly took the door to the main hall, from there the squad could choose the path to the Marine Command Center easily... they entered the main hall one by one. Sounds were heard in the distance, pipes steaming, pipes falling... and eventually some explosions, those sudden sounds made the team quiver nervously but they sustained it and took the sounds calmly. "Right, everyone's here... let me check my PDA..." Blaze said managing his PDA, the squad awaited an answer and also awaited anything that came from hell, "AH, found it... it's this way" Blaze said pointing to the east side of the room, a large walkway emerged from that side and on top of it an indication read "Marine Command Center - Clinical Quarters - Armory", "Ok... it's definitly that way" Silenx said looking up.. "Let's move then" Shade interrupted and motioned the team forward... Flynn was always in the rear, he knew how the demons reacted and could easily warn the squad from there... but fortunately for now everything was clear of hostiles.

As the team made its way through the walkway they had entered, they had to go through the Clinical Quarters and so they did. "Come on, we are almost at the Marine Command Center we cannot waste time.." Hurricane said to the squad, they understood that already but that only made the Pilot more nervous than he already was... they reached a room that was filled with cirurgical beds and there was only two door, the one they came in and the one that lead to the MCC (Marine Command Center), corpses laid on the ground lifeless... or so it seemed, the team moved forward and the pilot was left behind examining the bodys, suddendly a groan was heard, it was like a whisper and near the Pilot stood a rotting zombie.. the pilot looked back and pointed his pistol, he fire twice and hit the zombie on the chest.. the team heard the shots and they turned back, Flynn fired his old shotgun and several pellets ripped the zombie, it fell on the ground lifeless for sure now... The pilot had been hit twice by the zombie and had several gashes on his neck and face, luckly they weren't deep enough to kill him or to risk his life...

"Dude, you goota be more careful... we need you to finish our mission, and I'm sure you don't wanna get killed here right?" Nop said helping the Pilot up, he just nodded in acknowledgement and followed the team closely behind from now on... as soon as they were about to leave the room where the zombie had appeard and head for the MCC, several groans and moans were here in the distance... "Crap, let's go in the room, position yourselves in the center I want Flynn as a free shooter, the rest divide yourselves, some take aim on the door to the Walkway and some take aim to the door that leads to the MCC" The team did as he said with no objection, Flynn understood that... but because of a previous conflit with a superior officer he had learned to dislike high ranking officers... however Shade was different, he didn't want the rank he had and that made him a bit like Flynn...

- Flynn Flash Back - When Flynn sees a high ranking officer he can only remember what one wanted him to do... he was once a good Marine on earth, but one day his superior wanted him to kill several innocent civilians for things they had seen and were accused off without any reason.. Flynn of course refused to do such thing instead he bashed the officer... result of the anger and frustation for such a ridiculous order that the officer wanted Flynn to execute... Of course the marine was arrested and was sent to Mars to work as a security and be part of an Intervention Squad, so that if anything went wrong with the experiments in Phobos and Deimos they would have someone to clean things up... Flynn of course hated the job and one sad day Phobos was attacked and Deimos disappeared, and that was the beginning of the Hero's journey...

- Clinical Quarters - Shade tapped Flynn's shoulder and he woke up from his memory's "Are you ready to take them all on?" the Captain asked, "I'm always ready" Flynn said flashing an evil grin behind his helmet, they all took positions and aimed torwards the entrances... the zombies were getting closer as the sounds were louder and louder by the moment.. soon the doors opened and zombies poured in the room, Shades double barreled shotty made the first victims, *BOOM* three zombies fell lifeless against the other entering zombies and because of the impact and the force they fell backwards... from the Walkway door zombies were already making their way in the room, but met a barrage of plasma from Silenx, bullets from Breeze's thompson and from Nop's Chaingun.. Flynn awaited patiently for a good time to intervene and the pilot just shot randomly at the zombies.. Hurricane made the zombie's heads an easy target for her DE pistols, brain matter coming out with each headshot... soon the zombies were all dead...

The team breathed in relief but it was too soon to do such thing, silently from the ceiling two imps creeped up on the squad, they slowly hit the ground almost silently and went for an attack, one of them threw a fireball and hit breeze on the back, he was fast enough to claw at Nop, inflicting a wound on his arm... the other imp picked up a small table top and threw it right at Shade hitting him on the back, and also let out a fireball torwards Blaze, who fortunately had time to dodge... Flynn quickly fired his shotgun to the farthest Imp and Shade who was downed managed to fire his DBS to the last imp, the large pellets hit the Imp and sent him flying torwards the wall, a loud *THUMP* was heard as the Imp connected with the wall.. the team was wounded and in the same time astounished at the intelligence of those demons... two of them almost took out some squad members... "Christ... I feel like shit.." Shade said still on the ground rubbing his back... Flynn approached him and lended him a hand "Come on Captain "Fiti" we need to keep moving remember?" Shade took his hand and slowly brought himself to his feet "Thanks" the captain said to Flynn who nodded in reply,"is everyone ok?" Shade asked his teammates, "Breeze... she's not moving, help her!" Silenx demanded everyone, "Calm down Silenx, let me see her" Hurricane said and approached Breeze, meanwhile Nop picked up some medikits for Hurricane and one for himself... afterall they were in a Clinic.

Hurricane applied several medikits in her way, Silenx had a worried look in his face at the sights of Breeze, he didn't want to loose her... Hurricane finished her work and said winking and a bit jokingly "She'll be fine, it takes more than a mere fire ball to take a woman down, carry her Silenx... she won't be getting up now, she is still uncounscious from the direct impact...", Silenx nodded and picked Breeze carefully, carrying her in his shoulders.. Blaze looked around and said "Crap, look what they did to my armor! Oh come on I dodged the fireball and it still scorched my armor!", Nop directed to Blaze "Get up fashion boy, your armor sucks... deal with it haha", Blaze made an annoyed face and got up... everyone was on the go to continue to the MCC... they left the Clinical Quarters not wounded simply because they were in those Quarters, otherwise they would be in alot of trouble...

They reached a door that had the indication "Marine Command Center" part of the indication had blood covering it... as soon as the squad entered the MCC corpses filled the ground and a smell of blood made it was to the members nostrils... it was almost unbearable, as soon as they smelled it they turned on the helmets air filter... "Man, it stinks in here.." Nop said out aloud, he was the only one who didn't have a helmet.. "A helmet would com in handy right now huh?" Shade said grinning behind his visor just to see Nop's annoyed face looking at him "Don't..." he was interrupted by an evil laugh... it was a deep voice and it seemed to be all around the squad, the pilot had shivers running down his spine, and so did the team... soon the voice said something in Latin and with another laugh it faded away... "Ok... What the hell was that?" Silenx asked holding Breeze, "It... was Baphomet..." Flynn said a bit hesitantly... the team talked a bit but Shade was more interested in the objective at hand... Flynn just looked around and Hurricane saw the captain leave the squad and so she followed.

Shade found the right console and started working on it, Hurricane came from behind and placed her hands around him, "What are you doing?" she asked curiously, "Hurricane.. be careful and don't loose your awareness ok? I'm just getting the objective that the HQ left us before the disaster..." Shade said still pressing buttons on the console, "Don't worry I won't be distracted" Hurricane replied smiling lightly, hugging him tighter... "Ok I got out objective here, let's see.. " Shade read the message and saw the images and his eyes widened "Oh shit..", "what?" Hurricane asked concerned... "The HQ found where Baphomet was located and they want us to kill the demon lord... plus they want us to liberate a space port so that the remaining humans can escape earth..." Shade replied while looking at the images of the space port and Baphomet, who resembled a big goat demon, he had an orifice in his head and he assumed the form of a wall like demon in this dimension, he is stuck and can't move from his position...

"I guess that this is going to be a hard mission then.." Hurricane said a bit nervous, "Yes it will, we will free the space port first then we go for Baphomet..." Shade said and finally turned to his team, "Everyone, I have our mission objectives here and i'm going to upload them to your PDA's... the captain pressed some more buttons and in the screen it read, Mission Objective Transmitted. The team read attentively their eyes widening and their expression one of fear... "calm down everyone, we will manage this for sure... no comments Silenx, please" Shade said already knowing what would Silenx say. Everyone understood the objective and nodded, "It will be hard but we will do it! For we are the Archangel's!" the captain called out to the team and they replied "Sir, yes sir!" only Flynn didn't say that, due to what had happened in the past.

"Ok can we go to the armory now? I need to load up on ammo.." Silenx asked and Shade nodded "Yes let's go to the armory" Hurricane let go the captain and they moved torwards the door... they stopped dead in their tracks as soon as they heard a sound in the vent system above them, "Wait" Flynn said and fired twice in the vent, it bursted and fell on the ground, from inside it came a Marine... he was lightly wounded and looked up to the squad with a scared face... "Who are you?" Shade demanded an answer and so the marine replied "I...I'm Taka... but you can call me Lucifel, I'm a Marine Recruit and I hid from the demons that attacked the base... luckily I escaped..", "Great... now we have another monkey to take care of.. come with us and get yourself a nice weapon in the armory..." Silenx said to the newly found marine who nodded back in reply..

Earth Siege - Chapter 8 - Meeting!

Shade took off his helmet and held it under his arm, "Flynn?? is that you??" he asked trying to recognize the marine standing on the lower part of the room. The marine took off his helmet and that confirmed it... it really was Flynn, "Yes, it is me Shade and I'm glad to see that you are ok" the hero said smiling, "We'll be right down there, wait a sec" as Shade said this the squad took the corridor left torwards an elevator and descended to the same level that Flynn was, they approached him and Shade vividly shook his hand, "Where have you been? What happened?" the captain said with curiosity filling his mind, "Hehe, well It is a long story... to sum it up I found myself on Deimos after my passage way through the portal, then I made my way to the tower of Babel where I found 1 champion of Hell... the Cyberdemon, and I rapelled down to hell itself... went through the dark places of it and finally fought the Spider Mastermind, the 2 champion of Hell... I came back found myself here... you could say that I fought it about a day ago... I give you the details later" Flynn concluded is small tale and Shade was confused... "If you killed the champions then why is Hell so organized here on Earth?" Flynn replied, "Because the true master is still alive... I found some information on him, he is Baphomet... and from what I've been told he is residing on my very own home town...", Shade just nodded negatively at the statement "Oh man... that must really suck... but now I want you to meet the team that I luckily found" the marine then introduced every one of the teammembers to Flynn who gladly met them...

"We need to get moving... our dropship is arriving in 30 minutes and we need to be outside to light up a signal..." Hurricane said approaching the captain from the behind and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Flynn... I want you to come with us to the HQ, you need rest and you deserve it" Shade said feeling relaxed by having her hand on his shoulder, Flynn grinned and nodded "Fine, I won't contradict your request, shall we?" he said motioned Shade to lead the way and so he did both the marines equiped their helmets and near the blue square where Flynn appeard there was a door with a blue market on it, the Archangel's approached it and opened it, revealing the outside of the complex and a rough wind... "Light up the signal I want the dropship to see it when it comes!" Shade said moving outside with is DBS preying for victims, the squad slowly came outside with Flynn on the rear... he exibited his calm and relaxed look as always, but in the inside he was always alert and aware of everything that happened...

30 minutes was the estimated time of arrivel of the dropship, and the squad was getting impatient knowing that they could be attack at any time and from any direction, Flynn just stood there looking at his large array of weaponry drifting into his thoughts... Shade approached him and sat beside him, "I'm going to ask you something... if you don't want to answer then no problem" he said while smiling and proceded to his question "What was hell like?", Flynn looked at Shade and tried to remember the horrors that he saw, "Well... can you imagine a dimly lit place with different kinds of dark green marble corridors, large outside areas with a red and gorish sky above? not to mention deformed corpses, half eaten torsos, hearts pumping blood... but didn't have any body, and corpses all teared appart in chains... hanging? oh and don't forget that Demons of all kinds infested the differente 'levels' ", "Well... that does seem like Hell... I can only imagine really, but I think that my imagination won't even scratch what you really saw..." Shade replied the heroic marine while looking down at his DBS, opening and closing it constantly... "Maybe... maybe not... depends on how far goes your imagination" Flynn said with a smile on his face "Maybe when we get back to the HQ I'll tell you the whole story, I have alot of work to do... I need to go and get Baphomet himself, I've reached this far... nothing keeps me from reaching even further!" the marine finished while looking at Shade...

"What are those two up to?" Hurricane asked Breeze, "I dunno... maybe we should go get them... who knows what they are talking about..." the calm girl replied at Hurricane who stated back "I'm going to go and get Shade... Can't stand it anymore!", Breeze giggled and nodded "Go ahead, I'm going to comfort my forever negative Silenx", the black haired girl laughed and walked torwards the two marines talking about experiences and what they had gone through since they were separated... meanwhile Nop, Blaze and Silenx were talking about Flynn and what he had done... some stated that what he did was all a oax, the others defended what Flynn said, by discussion going on that finished with Silenx saying something along the lines of "Shut up, you keep your ideas I keep mine, and don't contestate my beliefs or else I'll kick your butt..." Nop and Blaze looked at each other and burst in laugh at what Silenx had said... he could never be taken seriously until now...

"..... I was called Phobos by the military and many more organizations, maybe they thought I was some kind of experience I don't know..." Shades voice was now heard by Hurricane who was approaching the two marines, "Funny, that's what the UAC would do... everything on their reach to keep everyone from the truth, they should be ashamed!", Flynn looked away from Shade and directed his eyes to Hurricane who was now almost on top of them, "Yes? Can we help you?" Flynn said cocking an eyebrow from inside his helmet visor, similar helmet and armor to the armor that Shade wore... "In fact yes, can you lend me Shade for a second?", Flynn cocked his eyebrow even higher and nodded "Erm.. yeah sure, we will continue our talk later then..." Flynn drifted his gaze to his Shotgun and sat straight and calmly..."Right then, come on" Hurricane grabbed Shade by his right arm, pulled him to a standing position and took him away from Flynn. "What's the rush Hurricane?" the marine said with a puzzled face, "Nothing... I just wanted to do this!" She replied and with that gave Shade a big hug that left him without words... he could only reply the gesture... after a while the marine finally asked jokingly "What was that for hmm?", "I felt like hugging you... can't I?" Hurricane said with a seemingly cheered up face, Shade nodded "Yes you can... everytime you want" his reply made her feel radiant...

Blaze, Nop and Silenx were discussing other things now, Breeze joined in the chat... but Blaze for some reason left the group and got a bit separated... Flynn felt some presences around the area, but could not see them or track them... like if they were invisible or teleporting around the place silently... Blaze looked at the sky, the dropship was coming soon but suddendly a Demon came up from his behind, picked up a steel pipe and slammed it against Blaze, sending him flying... Blaze fell right in the middle of the team and was trying to recover from the impact.. "Dude! What happened?" Nop asked a bit worried, "I was hit... by a bastard with something....gahh", "Stay on high alert, Flynn if you see anything tell us.. you know them better than me and better than the Archangel's..." Shade said turning in the direction of Flynn who was already up and cocking his Shotgun, he nodded and like the speed of a lightning he fired it to his right, a trail of blood was seen and a *THUMP* was heard... "invisible demons... be careful, check for deformations in the air... like blur" Flynn said and ran torwards higher ground... "Keep together, and look in every direction! there aren't many of them... from what I deduct" the heroic marine concluded and gave out some more shots...

"Alright people, concentrate...." Shade said to his squad and so they did, soon shot were heard in the directon of Breeze and Silenx, blood poured from thin air signifying that they had hit an Invisible Demon, "We got one!" they screamed, and a *BOOM* was heard... Shade fired his DBS and took out another Demon, "another one here" he said... two invisible Demons slipped past, Flynn was attentive and killed one while Nop perfurated the second one... unfortunately they were surprised by a third one that hit the group like a rampaging bull, some members were thrown around and fell on the ground trying to get up as quickly as they could... Shade fell on the ground facing up and felt a large weight shifting to his body, a blur was seen above him and a loud roar was heard... the Invisible Demon bit Shades armor, inflicting damage to it... Shade raised his DBS and fired the two shells of the gun into the side's of the Demon, the weight faded away with a cloud of blood and a *CLUNK* sound was heard in a nearby piping... "CRAP, I was almost dead there..." the marine said over to Hurricane who was also attentive for blurs, meanwhile Flynn inflicted heavy casualties on the demons, killing them one by one... the thick air and the hard wind made it difficult to fight and hold on against waves of demons of this kind.. the demons seemed to be winning but soon the squad gained the upperhand...

The team managed to kill mostl of the demons but sustained heavy damage and could not hold on for much longer... the Invisible Demons made their attack with steel pipes, brute force and biting, but that didn't make the Archangel's quit... Soon the Dropship was seen in the horizons and slowly descended the skies... opening it's hatch the team limped inside, Flynn killed the last Invisible Demon around and entered the ship... as it made lift off.

Earth Siege - Chapter 7 - Discovery! (part 2)

"Nice, we got the keycard... let's leave this place, I just hope those marines found peace and tranquillity after they died..." Shade said to the team, and Crypthief motioned them all torwards the elevators... they passed through the corridor, bodys still filled the floor and they were careful not to trip... they reached the elevator and Crypthief examined the map he brought, "Look, that door colour corresponds to our keycard colour let's go that way then..." Blaze said looking at the door and then at the keycard on Nop's hand, "Yup that's the way, let's move" the squadleader directed to the team and they descended to the entrance and took the elevator on the left.

They reached the top of the edge and stood in front of the locked door, Nop move forward and used the keycard to open the door, revealing a rather large room with a large Pentragram on it's center, it glowed an intense red hue... "Move carefully, we might die down here..." Silenx said while moving silently... they reached a small ledge with an elevator on the right that reached for another edge... slowly the team approached the small ledge near the elevator and Shade took s step forward to look down, "It isn't that high... we can jump it.. but..." The marine started moving back slowly but was already spotted, "What is it?" Hurricane and asked and Shade just pointed to the ledge where several cacodemons flew up, their vicious green and yellow eye seeking victims... "We don't know how tough they are... but fire at will!" Crypthief ordered and the team opened fire...

The cacodemons were fast and dodged the first wave of bullets, rockets, and plasma bolts... soon they responded with Electric balls, the team hid behind a nearby wall and reloaded, "Blaze show yourself and let 2 rockets fly at one of them.." Crypthief ordered him and he did as he said... the Cacodemons were coming in their direction and Blaze came out of cover, he gritted his teeth and 2 rockets flew in the direction of the Cacodemons, making for a direct impact on the unfortunate demon that didn't move out of the way... a 'gurgle' like sound was heard and the demons fell on the ground, brains and blue blood decorating the area... he hid behind the wall again and there were still some Cacodemons left...

"Silenx turn your plasma gun's concentration to the max and fire it agains a demon..." again the squadleader ordered and Silenx cocked an eyebrow "I can't handle my plasma gun when she is a full concentration... ", "Yes you can, just grip it tight agains your shoulder and apply as much strength as you can.." Crypthief directed to the marine and he nodded... Silenx turned the concentration to the max and came into view of the Cacodemons, he pressed his plasma gun against his shoulder hand a deafening sound filled the room, the plasma bolts came brighter than ever and near Silenx formed a small cloud of blue plasma, through the deafening sound the team could see Silenx's jaw moving up and down and sometimes words like "Die motherfu*****" could be heard, the plasma bolts were too fast for a Cacodemon to dodge and they hit him, 10 bolts were enough, the demon fell to the ground and died a gruesome burning death... the tired marine hid on the wall and said while huffing "Only... one Cacodemon... left..."

"Hurricane, your turn... your DE's will be enough" the squadleader orderd and she nodded... Hurricane came into view and took aim on the Cacodemon, she let out 8 shots... 6 of them hit the demon on the eye and the other 2 hit it on the mouth... the impact of the bullets on it's eye was enough to bring it to the ground, it fell, blue blood squirted from the demons eye like a fountain but it had to stop sometime...

Shade peeked around the corner to be certain that the demons were all dead, "The area is clear around here..." he said to the squadleader who motioned the team to move up... they reached the small ledge again and saw a door different from all the others on the far side of the room... the squadleader ordered them to jump of the dge and land softly on the ground, using the elevator could be a risk since it could trigger some kind of trap... they reached the red Pentagram on the ground, it was decorated by the head of a goat demon.. not a Baron of Hell but instead something bigger and more malicious... Breeze approached the Pentagram and she could feel her life getting leeched out of her.. she back away rapidly in response, Nop looked back "What's wrong Breeze?", "Nothing... that Pentagram made me feel wierd, that's all.." Breeze replied trying to get a smile on her face and Nop bought that one very harshly, still worried...

As the team approached the door the room trembled, a large pack of demons enteres the room and stood on the edges... to the left of the elevator a Hellknight stood magestically in all it's horrifying glory, and filling the sides of the demon stood Imps.... to the right of the elevator (where the team came from) teleported 2 mancubus... the team stood paralized and Shade's voice was then heard... "Open that door quick and get inside... we are going to get slaughtered in here..."... the Hell knight raised his hand to start the finishing move over the trapped team... "It's open, go go go" Crypthief said and motioned the team in, the Hell Knight dropped his hand and a green plasma ball flew in their direction followed by a hail of Fire balls and Flame balls, the team quickly rushed in the door and hid behind the walls... projectiles entered the room and hit the nearby wall while others just splattered on the walls around the door.

"Close it, now!" Silenx said shouting and Nop had it shut.. demons roars and screams could be heard from the other side... "Great, now we have tons of demons on our asses... and this room is a bit dark..." Hurricane said looking around for some kind of light switch... "Don't worry I got the perfect flashlight right here" Silenx said and turned his Plasma gun to maximum concentrations... from the weapons exaust holes flowed a blue lighting, "I got a light more perfect than your's..." Nop said and took off a flash light from his backpack turning it on and pointing around the room, "See? perfect huh?" he said trying to lighten the mood and laughed... he pointed to the other side of the room and a skull like switch was seen, "Hey people what's that?" Nop said to his team, calling their attention, "I know what that is, that is a switch... but made by the demons, I saw one of those back on Phobos.." Shade said and came closer to the switch, "Is it safe?" Crypthief asked a bit hesitantly... "Yes, it can open new pathways... or it can spring a trap... but I'm betting this one opens something, trust me" The marine said and touched the cold skull-like, surface of the switch... it moved in and their two eye holes lit up in a malefic red colour... opening a passage way to another small room, this was in complete darkness but, you could see small moving green energy strings around something...

"I'll light the area, wait a sec" Nop said and pointed the flashlight to the inside of the newly found room, in it's center stood a sphere, similar to the Invincibility Sphere but this one seemed to be sleeping or powerless... Shade stared at it not moving, Hurricane noticed and asked "What's wrong? did you see anything?", "No... sorry nothing's wrong, don't worry" Shade said shaking his head and pat Hurricane on the shoulder lightly... "Right, this is our objective! Great work, now... we need to go back" Crypthief said and picked up the Sphere placing it in his backpack "Let's check the door again and see if there are any demons still there..." the squadleader motioned to his team and they took positions on the walls near the door, with a slow gesture the squadleader motioned Shade, who opened the door to reveal only half of the demons standing outside in the edges of the elevator sides... "We can take them!" Blaze said in an encouraging atempt and Crypthief motioned them out "Fire at will soldiers, disperse around the room and hide in this room if you need to..."

The team poured from the inside of the room and took aim at the unsuspecting demons, *BOOM* Shade fired his DBS taking down two imps at the same time, he ran frantically and reloaded his DBS, Breeze straffed around hastily and fired her Thompson at the HellKnight comanding the troops... soon the demons counter-attacked with fire balls and plasma balls, Nop was hit by an incoming plasma ball but since he had his blue vest on it only sent him back a bit, "You hit me?? YOU HIT ME!" Nop yelled and pointed his Chainguns at the Hellknight, it was pierced furiously by Nop and fell off the ledge, holes now decorating his body... "Oh Yeah! You don't mess with tha Nop!" the tall marine said waving round widly, Silenx fired 20 bolts of plasma right on the head of a Mancubus, sending it falling to the ground... exploding in a heap of blood, Blaze aimed at the Imps and took out 4 of them with just one rocket, "Booyah!" he yelled, Hurricane, Shade and Crypthief cleaned the rest of the Imps...

The team won with alot of effort and were tired now... but they had to go on, they moved up the lift and exited in on the edge that was opposite to the one they came in, the door was also the same colour as the keycard, so there were no problems... they exited and descended the elevator to the main pit where the entrance was located, just to find that it has been ripped to pieces and it was not useable anymore... "Our luck just keeps getting better and better..." Hurricane said sighing, "But we have one elevator left... I say we try it then... doesn't seem like we have a chance anyway" Blaze said and moved torwards the lift, the team followed behind and they all entered it, ascending slowly, they reached the highes edge over 'The Pit' and exited the elevator... always on high alert for anything inhuman that moved...

In front of the elevator stood a small passway with a Lion head switch... "Another hellish switch... shall we inspect it?" Shade asked the squadleader who nodded positively in reply, they moved torwards the switch and Shade pressed it... the Lion's eyes lit a yellow light and the wall where the switch was located opened like a door revealing another switch just ahead, puzzled the team continued... the marine pressed the switch and it showed to be the same as the one before... it opened like a door to reveal yet another Lion switch... again the marine pressed the third switch and it opened, this time a small passway to the right could be seen and the team moved through it carefully... at the end of the passageway a dead end with a switch was seen, Shade pressed it and it turned green, the walls to the right side of the team slid open slowly to reveal a hidden room..

In the center of it stood a rocket launcher and on the far side of the room stood a black box with a red cross drawed in it, "I really could use some rockets you know... I'm almost running out!" Blazed said inspecting his rocket launcher... "Fine then, let's go get it... we have some ammo on the far side of the room, could be of some use... make way to it then" Crypthief said and the team all moved to the other end of the hidden room, Shade passed through the rocket launcher but didn't touch it, he was more interested in the black box... the team got the ammo and Crypthief was left behind to guard the rears since he didn't need any ammo... Shade opened the black box and inside it layed a red syringe... it read in the discription, "Warning: Test use only... replenishes health, gives the user strength!" as he read this he emidiatly ejected it in his body, he felt wierd at first... but then felt good, like a gentle wind brought a refreshing feeling...

Blaze picked up the rocket launcher and a sound was heard behind them... near Crypthief's position the walls slid open and revealed 5 Former Comandos... they used a chaingun as their weapons and their eyes had a red hue in them... Crypthief didn't have time to react, he was soon filled with chaigun bullets and fell dead on the ground... Shade saw this, the team was paralised... "ARGHHHH!" The marine growled and his muscles grew larger his vision turned to a blur of red hue and so did his eyes, he behaved like an animal... the team just looked at was about to happen... Shade jumped high and landed near the former comandos... he let forth a punch in the chest of the first former comando, by the effect of the red syringe he gained enough strength to completly blow the former comandos torso... he moved to the next one and a punch was given in the thing's face, again brainmatter and blood were the consequence of an exploding head... he repeated until the last former comando... he took away his chaingun and broke it in half, the former comando tried to reply with an arm attack but Shade deflected it, he then picked the zombie by the legs and torso and ripped him in half...

The Archangel's looked at what had become of Shade, they thought he had lost his mind... but soon the marine came back to normal state and approached the squadleaders corpse... "God... he was a good person and a good leader... I may have not known him for as much time as you guys did, but really... this blows..." Shade said looking down and then looking away from the corpse, the team gathered and gave a final good bye to their squadleader... they were not in the condition to bring his body with them but bringing his backpack was vital and that was what Shade did... "Let's move then dudes and dudettes" Nop said trying to sound a little bit more cheered up than he really was...

They left the body behind and headed back to the elevator but instead to the left corridor... the walls slid down to reveal 3 more comandos... but the team was ready now and before the zombies could react their body's were ripped appart by bullets, plasma and rockets... the team continued down the dimly lit pass way and found another edge looking down a blue floor tile could be seen and the exit was also present..

A green mist of energy was seen in the area of the blue tile, and something teleported to that position... after the smoke cleared out a figure could be seen, a familiar figure for Shade... upon better inspection Shade realized who he was, he widened his eyes and the Marine down on the room looked up at the team...

Earth Siege - Chapter 6 - Discovery! (part 1)

The first sun rays embraced the HQ signifying the coming of a new day, and a hard one for the Archangel's for sure, 7:30 AM marked the clock in the base... Shade was already up since 7 AM, he was cleaning up and tuning his DBS and arranging his armor... he liked to go to missions as ready as he could be, slowly the team members started coming out of their quarters already equiped and up for a battle...

"Good morning Shade, had a good night?" Breeze said as she entered the Breefing room where Shade was siting and relaxing, "Hey there, yeah I had thanks.. what bout you?" Shade asked out of pure politeness "I also had a good night, thanks" She said with a smile on her face, soon Nop came out of his quarters, followed by Silenx then Blaze, then Crypthief and finally Hurricane... everyone greeted eachother and readied for departure...

"So, everyone ready to kick some demon ass?" Nop said stretching himself out of lazyness, "yeah we are... but be careful maybe they are the ones that are going to kick our asses..." Silenx said grumbling a bit in the end, again this comment made Hurricane a bit angry "Silenx... why won't you stop those crappy comments? really, there is no need for them right now...", Silenx took the situation and with a mocking tone in his voice he replied "AH! but you know it is true... and they will slowly eat your body... piece by piece... you know you can't handle it" Hurricane didn't reply for she was getting very angry right now and didn't want to make bad impressions in front of a certain person...

"Alright people, lets move to the Hangar Bay, it's almost time... 15 minutes remaining... move move move!" Crypthief ordered his team and they all left the Archangel's quarters behind, once more they marched to genocide... after a short walk they reached the Bay where a dropship already awaited for them, they boarded the ship and awaited patiently inside for the departure...

"This waiting just blows..." Blaze said looking at the ground, "Better wait and live a while longer than rush things and die early.." Shade said drifting into moral mode while looking at his shiny DBS, the team just gazed at him.. he was really calm for a situation like this, as he said earlier he got that from Flynn... "Flynn really did a good job, just before a mission you seem pretty calm.." Hurricane said moving closer to him and sitting beside him, "Yeah, you could say that... I appreciate what he did, he was a really interesting person... I dunno if I will ever see him again... but enough talking about that, we need to be concentrated" he replied while looking at her and slowly equiped his helmet, "Concentrate... That will be a bigger problem to me now, but I'll manage it" she said also equipping her helmet, "I'm sure you will, if you need any help just shout" Shade said laughing just a bit, he sat back and relaxed.

"Ok people, we got a mission to do, you already know the objective and we need to retrieve it... let's make sure we do this fast but nicely, the longer we stay there the better the chances are we are going to get mowned down... so everyone, concentration... conviction... no cocky atitudes and finally, have fun killing demons" Crypthief concluded his encouraging speak and it seemed to have worked, everyone looked more relaxed and at last the hissing sound of the Dropship hatch indicated that it was 8:00 AM and that the ship was starting the lift off procedure... "Buckle up everyone, we are lifting off... estimated arrival time to 'The Pit' is 15 to 20 minutes... talk to you when we are almost at our destination.." The pilot said over the dropships intercom.

"Hey, did anyone have wierd dreams with his mission or the new demon type that was detected?" Nop asked out of curiosity and Breeze was the first one to reply "Hum... well I did had some nightmares about those things.. but they weren't strong enough to wake me up...", "Oh? and what happened in the nightmares if I may ask?" Shade directed to Breeze with curiosity perking in his mind... "Well, I don't remember very well... but in room on 'The Pit' we were attacked by two large demons, I don't know their type, neither I remember how they were... but they killed almost all of us, and only you and Crypthief survived, Shade..." She said with a tone of fear in her voice, Silenx sat near her and placed an arm around her, he then said like a whisper just for her to listen, "I won't let anything happen to you...", Breeze looked up at him and a gentle smile came to her face... she nodded in gratitude and hugged Silenx before she equipped her helmet, he blushed and quickly equipped his helmet so no one could notice, in the background Shade laughed a bit at him, he noticed and motioned a "zip it", Shade gave him a thumbs up.

Hurricane watched what Breeze had done and wondered why she wouldn't do the same... it wasn't going to be that hard... so she turned to Shade and gave him a hug that came out of no where but made her feel good, as a consequence it made Shade blush but he couldn't resist to return the hug, "Thanks" Hurricane's voice sounded a bit muffled due to having her face almost 'buried' in his chest, he replied "No problem" and they both let go off each other slowly, all the team members were gazing right at them, a smile on their face. The mood was good... for now.

"Landing procedure initialized, 30 seconds until this ship hits the ground... brace yourselves.." The marine Pilot said over the intercom and all the team members readied themselves for one last time before the mission, Shade was already standing and loaded two shells into his DBS, he checked the ammo on his standard issue SMG and Pistol holsteringthem. The dropship started rumbling and steam sounds were heard has the dropship hit the ground in front of 'The Pit' the team came out of the ship and it soon departed. Leaving the Archangel's on the ground... they formed the 'Arrow Formation', consisting of Shade in the tip of the arrow, to his right stood Silenx and to his left stood Crypthief, on the right end of the arrow was Breeze and on the left end of the arrow was Hurricane, forming the 'body' of the arrow was Blaze behind Shade and Nop behind Blaze...

"Ok people, seems like we are ready, let's go in, beware of surprise attacks... this lab has been abandoned and god knows what lurks inside.." Crypthief said and motioned the Squad to go in, and so they did... as soon as they entered the complex they were depared by an armor in the middle of the cramped room, they turned on the lights and in each side of the cubic like room there was 1 elevator, the team looked up and saw that where the elevators lead to was not covered and the ceilling was way higher than normal... the edges seen where the elevators stopped rising didn't have any threats for now...

"Hey, it's a Blue vest armor! these things are like composite armor! I need one of those" Nop said and left the formation to pick up the armor... "NO, NOP DON'T..." Shade yelled to him but it was too late, as soon as Nop picked up the blue vest armor and equiped it the edges on the upper floors that the elevators lead to filled themselves with Former Humans, "Err, sorry?" Nop said and dodged the incoming bullets and pellets, " spread around the room, we can't be together!" Shade called out to the team and so they did, he rolled left and with a loud *BOOM* he fired his double barrelled shotgun, several Former Humans died instantly and fell on the room were the team was located, Blaze ran to the other end of the room and let 1 rocket fly, causing a direct impact on a former humans, sending pieces of flesh and blood flying around the room and killing 2 more former humans from the splash damage, Breeze and Hurricane fired at the platform with the highest number of zombies cutting them off easily, the former humans bullets were clumsy and missed their target since they were so spread out about the room, bullets splashed on the floor filled with water, and ricocheted of walls, one final *BOOM* was heard from Shades 'Boomstick' (DBS) before the former humans were all dead and he inserted two shells in both the DBS's chambers...

"Man that was close, you gotta be more careful there Nop... at least they were former humans, imagined if they were Barons of Hell?" Blaze said a bit annoyingly at Nop and he felt bad for himself, "quit it you 2, this is not the time" Crypthief said and motioned the team to go to the elevator on the right far side of the room... they went up in 3 at a time and Crypthief came up in last, the platform that they were in let them see the others that were filled with Former human bodys, they looked back at the corridor connected with platform they were in but it was pitch black...

"We need a light down there... I know what the demons can do and I won't enter pitch black areas..." Shade said pointing down the hallway "You'll see what I mean as soon as you throw some light in there...", Blaze took the first step and said "I'll give you light.." he took off a couple of flares and lit them up, throwing them at the dark tunel, they hit the wall on the far side and in the darkness silhouettes of imps and former humans could be seen, they moved and faced the squad. "Don't hesitate and concentrate your fire on the imps.." Crypthief ordered and the team opened fire, the *BOOM* was the first sound to be heard, and with it came from the other side moans and death screams, rockets and plasma bolts had the area pretty much set alight... plus the fireballs from the imps gave a nice touch to the show...

"Cover me I'm reloading.." Silenx said, the team was straffing widly to dodge the incoming fire balls and tried to make every shot count, Silenx stopped for a while to insert a fresh cell in the Plasma gun's chamber but was hit in the chest by an incoming fireball, "GAHHH, I'm down...." Silenx screamed in pain, his armor absorbing most of the damage and saving him from certain death, "Kill them all!" Shade yelled and fired his DBS reducing their numbers, he ran torwards the demons to get their attention and shouted "Take Silenx out of their view Breeze, the rest of us will keep them busy..." Shade straffed like a mad man in a sequence of, *BOOM*, reload two shells then *BOOM*, the other members did the same with their weapons and soon the demons were all dead in that area...

"Ugh, thanks Breeze... even with a medkit applied it still hurts like hell.." Silenx stood up and looked at the team, "I'm glad you're fine dude..." Nop said landing a hand on his shoulder and patting him.. "We still have light on the tunnel, and it's clear so lets move to the other room, from what I see there is a key card there... we need to move, we still have 3 more elevators to check out from the main entrance room..." Crypthief said and the team started to go through the corridor, trying not to trip on a corpse... Hurricane accidentally tripped over a pile of corpses but Shade grabbed her as she was falling, "Thanks..." she said to Shade who nodded in response. Finally they reached the final room, walls covered the center of the room, Blaze clicked a button and the walls came down.. "Oh..god... it can't be.. are they??" Hurricane asked Shade and wanted a quick answer.. "No, these are different, these are weaker versions.. these are the Hellknights" he replied, similar to the Barons of Hell phisically but weaker in general attack and health... "I bet I can take one out with 2 shots from my DBS..." Shade said while looking at the incoming demons... "Everyone, spread a bit we got 2 Hellknights to dispose of, and in case you haven't noticed they have imps behind them... Fire!" Crypthief ordered the team and they all opened fire, a Hellknight decided to start the 'war' and threw a ball of green plasma at the team, it hit near Blaze and the splash damage made him fall to the ground, "oh you want to play eh?" Blaze got up and directed himself to the attacking Hellknight and let out 2 rockets that hit the demon on the chest, he acted as if they didn't affect him, but soon his body crumbled to the floor in a heap of green blood... "Booyah! got one!" Blaze said with a cheer, "People I ask of you, concentrate your fire on the imps I'll take care of the last Hellknight" Shade said to the team, Crypthief nodded and they concentrated on the imps... he then ran torwards the Hellknight who responded with large green plasma bolts... Shade dodged them because despite being deadly they were slow projectiles making them easy to dodge, at point black range the demon clawed for the marine, but as soon as the Hellknight tried to claw at Shade a loud *BOOM* was heard and large gashes opened in the Hellknight's body he reelled back and blood even came out from his back, the marine quickly reloaded the DBS with 2 shells, and another *BOOM* followed, the demon let out a cry and his torso was separated from its legs... meanwhile the squad cleaned up the rest of the imps and headed torwards the center of the room.

An horrendous sight was behold in the center of the room, near the keycard body's hanged from the ceiling by chains... internal organs dancing around freely and lifeless stares from the marines gave the team shivers... "I can't stand this sight.." Breeze said and turned around "I'll get the keycard" Nop offered himself and picked up the keycard from the middle of the circle where the marine bodys were hanging...

Earth Siege - Chapter 5 - A New Target!

Shade entered his room, leaving Hurricane behind... she started to work on the paper work to get his clothes transferred between HQ's.

Shade looked around his room to see that it was very confortable and better than the one on his last HQ.. "Not bad at all..." he said with his DBS still on his shoulder, since he had no clothes he couldn't take off his customized armor, made especially for him in remembrance of a Marine he met back on Mars and Phobos... "Damn this, I'm restricted to wearing armor for awhile" he said out a bit loud and caught Hurricane's attention, she finished filling up the paperwork and quietly approached Shade's room door.

Shade sat on the bed thinking to himself, and what happened before the invasion and on his security duty on Phobos... "God... UAC really messed up everything back on Phobos... bastards didn't know what they were messing with...", Hurricane was overhearing Shade talk to himself but forgot that doors had the automatic opening turned on and the door opened, to reveal her standing behind it... he just lifted his head and asked calmly "You were overhearing me talk to myself weren't you? Don't lie please" Hurricane was blushing like never before and answered nervously "Ye.. yeah I was.. Sorry..." she suddendly gained courage and asked curiously "What were you talking about anyway?", "Things... things that happened in the past of my life, and that I wish not to talk about right now..." Shade answered standing up and approaching Hurricane, he whispered in her ear "I'll tell everyone... later" for some reason that made her shiver a bit as he left the room and headed torwards the center room with his DBS on his shoulder "I'll see you in the Center room" he said, Hurricane waved and sat down on Shade's bed... thinking of what he could be hiding....

In the breefing room Silenx, Nop and Blaze were arguing about what could have brought the demons to earth, "Dude... of course it was a space ship made in Hell.." Nop said with all his conviction, "Nuh uh, no it wasn't, I bet they are some bad experiments that came from a genetics lab and reproduced themselves..." Silenx said convinced... and Blaze counter attacked "You two are both wrong... geez don't you read up on the news? it was some experiments on far away worlds that let the demons teleport to this reality... and to our world" What Blaze didn't know is that he was the closest to the truth... "You are all wrong, only Blaze is closer to the truth..." Shade said walking in the Breefing room and Blaze looked at the others making wierd expressions, like if he had won something. "I'm not supposed to tell you this, BUT since I belong to the Archangel's now... you might aswell know where I've been and what I've gathered up on information..." the team looked up at him in awee and asked "You belong to the team now? Great..." Silenx said sounding a bit negative, Nop scuffled at Silenx for his unfortunate comment, but in fact Silenx was happy to have him on board as well were the others.

Breeze gathered on the breefing room and so did Hurricane, both were in uniform, the standard clothing around the base, all the excitement on the breefing room (or center room) caught the girl's attention.
"Come on hurry up you two, Shade is going to tell us a story... you know the ones that you like to hear? Oh and by the way he belongs to the team now" Nop said jokingly at the girl's, their expression lit revealing a smile of congratulations for Shade they gathered and sat around the marine.. "Ok people, here's the deal... you all heard the lame 'excuses' that the newsnet gave you about the arrival of the demons on Earth, well they are all absolutely WRONG!" Shade said and with that the members built a puzzling face but didn't ask any questions for now... "The real cause of all this grief... all this suffering... is in fact the UAC, Union Aerospace Coorporation... I was stationed on Phobos before the invasion of Earth.. and I knew something was going on..." Shade paused for a while creating some expectations around the team, and shortly continued "I was stationed on Phobos labs, and they were experimenting with teleportation technology... their theory was that an object could go from point A to point B by travelling to another dimension, and then coming back to ours, appearing in the place desired..." Blaze was now shining because he was closer to the truth... Shade continued "Well, the deal is that because of those little experiments, some objects started coming completly ripped appart claw marks and teeth marks decorated the object's surface... and they decided to experiment with humans, they all came insane through the portals and exploded a short while before entering our dimension again... some even came already torn to pieces, arms and body parts around the place"

---Marine HQ--- "Sir I have something to report... we have found a new artifact over in an abandoned laboraty, it would be best to recover it as soon as we can, the cientists are asking for it so they can study it's nature...." The Private said facing the commander, "I'll take care of everything from here son, don't worry yourself about it... I'll assign a team to go retrieve it, just inform the cientists about it" the commander replied, his voice full of experience from past battles... "Sir, yes sir" The Private said saluting, the commander gave the order and he was dismissed... "I guess this is a job for the Archangel's... prepare the report for the team please" the commander directed to the staff and they all started to work on it...

--- Archangel's Quarters, Breefing Room --- "I saw those experiments... I know they are real, and in a dark and gloomy day, as if by magic Deimos disappeared clean off the space... and Phobos, where I was stationed, was attacked by monsters that came from the portals... evil spirits flew in the air and possessed the cadavers of humans... Hell broke lose on the base literally..." Shade said, the interest on the story growing in the members eyes... "I was lucky, first I didn't get possessed by the spirits, second I found my customized armor, and finally I had decent weapons with me... that helped since I was at the middle of the Complex Imps and Pinkies were thrown right at me... I was almost in shock state, I had never seen such horrendous things in my life, not even in my nightmares..." he said and sat down laying his DBS by his side... "I had to send a distress signal to mars base... the transmission wasn't completely sent but they got the message... they decided to send a team to Phobos and check out what was happening, I had to fight my way alone to the military base, near the Phobos anomaly where the portal was located, there I had my first contact with a Demon artifact, a blue sphere that regenerated complety the user as soon as he touched it's surface...", "Oh... so I see, that is why the demons sometimes guard stashes... maybe they are hiding those things there.." Breeze interrupted Shade and then she motioned him to continue, "Maybe.. but anyways I also had the chance to lay my eyes on the biggest and most malicious demons I had ever seen, they were heading for the Phobos Anomaly, I didn't engage because it would be certain death..." Shade paused and Hurricane took the chance to ask, "What demons were those? maybe some that the team hasn't seen before I bet..", "I bet you haven't seen them, they were half human half goat, they had hooves and a goat head while their torso was human like... they stood on two hooves and their hands emanated an eerie green plasma energy.. I saw an unfortunate marine get in their way, and they ripped him appart... literally"...

---Marine HQ---Meanwhile Crypthief was reporting the insertion of Shade to his superiors... they accepted vividly and congratulated him for finding someone to fill the space of the marine that belonged to the Archangels before, but he met death face to face and wasn't strong enough to fight against it... "Nice find Squadleader, we are pleased that you could find someone as competent as the last marine... we all mourn for is death in this day still.." The high ranking man said to Crypthief, he then replied "No problem sir, it was my duty... and don't worry the team is holding on quite well, they haven't thought much about the loss, mission keep our heads occupied", "I believe they do, now, dismissed" The superior said to Crypthief who saluted turned around and headed torwards the breefing room.

---Breefing Room--- The last sentence that Shade declared sent shivers and bad thoughts through the members minds, they didn't want to encounter such beasts on their path.. "I took the liberty to call them Barons of Hell, impressive demons they were but, if they bleed they die... after the incident I managed my way through the Military Base and ended up finding one spaceship... feeling radiant I got into it and tried to fly it back to the mars base... but for my unfortunate luck the spaceship didn't work... I needed to get some spare parts to get it going... as I headed back to the Toxin Refinery, I was in the brink of insanity... I started hearing things, voices, and then I saw a lone Marine coming through the corridors of the Refinery, I hid thinking that he might be something that my mind had made up to trick me, but I saw him fight...", "Who was he?? do you know?" Blaze couldn't contain his curiosity and just had to ask, "Yes I know who he was, his name tag read Flynn Taggart I had the pleasure to talk to him, he told me that his team entered the complex and was slaughtered, they left him behind to guard the spaceship but he couldn't stay there forever", "Why didn't you board Flynn's ship then? it would be alot easier you know..." Silenx said with irony without knowing the whole story Shade replied and continued.. "Flynn said that two large demons came just as he left and torn the spaceship to pieces... I'm betting they were Barons of Hell.. anyways he fought his way to the Toxin Refinery alone just like me, we both agreed to team up for a while until I could get my spare parts... our journey took us to the Phobos anomaly, Flynn was packing in heat, he had every weapon of the UAC with him, from the simple pistol to the Rocket launcher, I warned him of the two Barons of Hell but he continued not thinking twice, I got my last spare part just at the entrance of Phobos Anomaly, he said he was going to continue through the Portal and end this... I thoroughly believed in him, he was a very capable Marine and strong willed... his mind was always calm and he was not even entering the insanity state, like I was before I found him... I learned how to control myself by observing his behaviour, and now little things affect me... from the entrance I took my binoculars and saw that the walls near the portal were coming down... to reveal a pentagram shaped room, there the Marine fought the two Barons of Hell, and for my surprise he won, the demons were killed, he looked back from the distance and saw me, he gave me a thumbs up and entered the Portal... I never saw him again, until now that is... from the information I gathered after he entered the Portal he found himself in the Deimos Anomaly... since the two Portals in each complex were connected... I can only imagine what he had to go through, different demons, different places, and from the theory that I earlier said about the Portals, I can only deduct that he made his way to Hell itself... I don't know what he did there, but that would be a great story to tell, and I have a strong feeling that he is still making his way through Hell as we speak, and is almost finishing his run through.. killing everything evil in his path, I just feel it." The team just stood there freezed and stuck to their place.. they wanted to know more about what had happened and the story was about to come to an end.. "As for me I came back to the military base, killed the remaining demons and departed to the mars base, where I was interrogated and, of course, they didn't believe me saying that I was insane... they sent me back to earth for insanity treatment and I became known has Phobos between the Military and the Insanity Treatment Center since I came from Phobos they decided to assign me that nickname as if I was a secret project... when they thought I was sane, I always was but hey they didn't believe me! they inserted me back in the Military, they found my skills to be irregular and out of normal.. they said I behaved strangely but had great efficiency in battle, I bet that was what I got from being with a person like Flynn, so I was given a rank and a team... soon after that earth was invaded and my team became a Demon Extermination Squad... one of many that where sent out to kill every single bastard out there... and the rest of the story? you already know what happened next... Oh I forgot... the demons got a hold of the UAC teleportation technology and built a portal of their own to get to earth.. and I bet they brought their leader, from the books I read he is called Baphomet..."

As soon as Shade concluded his story in the Breefing Room, Crypthief entered and looked at everyone sitting around Shade.. "hum... may I ask what you are doing to our new member?" Crypthief said raising an eyebrow, "We were just hearing a very interesting story that cleared up alot of doubts... you should have been here!" Hurricane said with excitement clearly lighting up in her voice, "Oh... well I guess that'll have to wait, we have a new assigment, come on over to the Breefing screen" Crypthief said pointing to the screen and heading torwards it, the Archangel's followed. "Nice going... right now that I was feeling like I was home... is anybody hungry?" Nop said making some of the members laugh.

Soon the screen came to life and a transmission started to flow through it, "Archangel's we have a new target for you.. with it a new missions... to be simple and direct, your objective is to retireve an artifact from an abandoned Lab Complex, the site is classified with the name 'The Pit'... it is a very dangerous place from what we've found out, but unfortunately we don't have any kind of blueprints or maps of the area... so you all will have to find the way... also the level of the area's security is very high, you will need to get keycards that are on the complex itself to open certain doors to reach your objective, be careful new types of demons were identified... you will be leaving tomorrow at 8:00 AM, transmission over..." The transmission ended and an image of the artifact came into view... it resembled the one that Shade had found earlier that made him invincible, another image popped up showing a new demon type... it was a large floating demon, that resembled a ball.. he consisted of an eye on his head, and a large mouth that spat out Electric balls, it also had some small tentacles hanging from the lower part of it's body, the demons skin was a vived red mixes with a light pink, his name was Cacodemon.

"Man that demon is ugly... can't wait to blow him to pieces though" Blaze said with a large grin on his face, Crypthief turned to his team and said "Everyone, it's time to go to your quarters... 10:00 PM we need to be in shape tomorrow... I don't want anyone sleepy or something, so retreat to your quarters... Shade I got the transfer reply just a few minutes ago and your clothes have already arrived on Hurricane's quarters... behold the beauty of express shipping" he concluded smiling a bit, saluted and retreated to his quarters. "Aight everyone, I'll see you tomorrow, have a good one" Nop said to the team and left them, so did Silenx with a wave and he was accompanied by Breeze, "Well, I guess that I'm here by excess, talk to ya guys tomorrow" Blaze said grinning as he left the two behind and ran torwards Nop to irritate him... Hurricane and Shade were left behind and also retreated to their quarters.. "It seems that we have alot of work tomorrow... long day I bet" he said to Hurricane who replied "Yeah, I'm sure it will be tough, but we can handle it together" Shade cocked an eyebrow at Hurricane and she blushed and looked at the ground only now realizing what she had said... they both entered their quarters and head torwards their respective room, "I'll see you tomorrow, pleasant dreams" the marine directed to Hurricane while entering his room, she replied "Have a good night" they entered each others room and silence installed itself on the sorroundings...

Earth Siege - Chapter 4 - Decision!

"Alright people the dropship is visible and it is starting the landing procedure, clear out from the LZ" Crypthief directed to his team and backed away a bit... No one could face the horror that layed on the the streets, the pilot of the dropship as soon as he landed he emidiatly thought to himself, "What in the saint's name happened here?" No one but the squad could answer that question...

The dropship's hidraulics came into action and it softly landed on the streets where the squad was located, "Great people, guess we made it, mission complete... well done!" Crypthief congratulated his team, and they all saluted back in contentment, "Yeah, it was a great job, guess we didn't die afterall... maybe next time" Silenx said joking, but didn't get appreciation from Hurricane "Silenx, when we get to the HQ I want to see your underwear... it smells wierd and I think it was you!" a tone of irony in her voice caracterized her personality and she was giggling as she said this, Silenx didn't reply for he did not want to have a discussion until they got to the HQ...

The team boarded the Dropship, but were suddendly surprised by two skeletal demons named Revenants that, surely, hid and waited for the right time to strike down the marines, they had two heat seeking drunken missile launchers on their shoulders, they had a respectable height, they had unmatching strengh and a gaze from their green eyes could send the weak minded to a state of madness... they both fired a drunken missile that exploded near Shade and Hurricane, he dodged the explosion blast, but Hurricane wasn't fast enough and fragments of hot concrete made their way into her leg, making her squeel in pain... "You Bastards!" Shade yelled out to the revenants and picked up his shotgun, the revenants moved for close ranged combat, their hooks were like jaw breakers and a direct hit from a hook made by a Revenant could be very dangerous...

The team saw what was happening and unboarded the Dropship aiming at the farthest Revenant they opened fire, even the quickness of a Revenant couldn't escape a wave of rockets, plasma and bullets... they all pierced through his armor and inflicted critical damage to his skeletal like body, making him drop right there... Shade occupied himself with the second Revenant, he was now in close range and ready to use it's powerfull hook and he did so, but Shade stopped the hook with the handle of the shotgun, for his surprise the handle bent due to the sheer strength of the skeleton, "You may have bent my shotgun... but, try and dodge this!" He fired a shell point blank against the armor of the skeleton, it cracked and opened, revealing small organic body parts and the rest of it's skeletal complex... with that Shade only made the Revenant angrier and a hook hit Shade on the helmet, making him fly a flew feet and land on the street floor...

"We need to go get Hurricane now!" Breeze shouted to the squadleader, but Crypthief could only reply "They are on their own... we are not risking more lives, I'm sure Shade will handle the Revenant...", "Have you lost your mind? we need to go there and help them right now!" Blaze said, his voice raising in authority but was soon chilled by one simple answer that he could not brake, "You are all staying here... and that's an order!" Crypthief finished and left the rest of the squad silent, and with no come back to that.

Dizzied, and confused Shade tried to get up as the Revenant came ever closer for the final blow, it's skeletal gaze eyeing upon the dropped marine, wasn't enough... Shade got up and fired two shells hitting the skeleton in the organic body parts, the impact made the Revenant drop like a rag doll, "Hurricane!" Shade called out and hurried torwards her location, she was conscious and only had injuries on her right leg, with the rest of his strength he picked her up and brought her torwards the Dropship where the team awaited for them. "Thanks... Shade..." Hurricane said mustering her strengths and regaining stability...

"You could have at least helped her now couldn't you?" Shade asked the squad, but they gave him no answer what so ever... only silence was given, and it was broken by the sound of the hatch closing and the voice of the pilot over the intercom "Congrats on the well done mission, prepare for lift off... you will be home in no time!" as much as the pilots voice may have sounded recomforting, it didn't bring any comfort to the team...

"I'll help her out Shade, I'm a good healer... in fact I graduated for combat medic! Don't worry I'll take good care of her" Breeze said walking up to Shade and trying to sound as much calm as she could, "Go ahead, I'll treat my own wounds, they are insignificant for now anyway..." Shade said standing up, taking of his helmet and taking a seat in one of the Dropship's seats.

The squad members all took of their helmets to breath freely, their expressions were of sadness for they were prohibited to help their two friends... "We didn't help you want by order's of Crypthief... he didn't want to loose more than two members if things didn't turn out alright" Nop whispered to Shade who replied in a whisper aswell "He did what he was meant to do, ensure your safety... something that I couldn't do with my team, and they are all dead now..." Shade's expression shifted to one of angryness and he landed a punch on a seat, all the team members looked at him for a short while and slowly drifted away to what they were doing before, "Calm yourself, I'm sure you didn't have any fault, you did all you could..." Nop said trying to calm Shade down, "But it wasn't enough..." Shade replied and Nop pat Shade on the back.

"We are going to be hitting HQ in 5 minutes, ready your stuff up" The pilot said and his voice ecoed through the Dropship... "Ugh... I feel a bit better now... but still it hurts like hell..!" Hurricane said sitting down on the floor, she caught Shades attention making him crouch near her, "I'm glad you are feeling better, I did what I could..." Shade said looking down at the floor, "I'm sure you did, and I appreciate it very much" Hurricane said lifting Shades head with a hand on his chin, it made Shade smile for the first time after what happened....

"Landing Procedure iniciated, prepare for a bit of a rough landing" The pilot said calmly and the Dropship started rumbling, sounds of steam and hidraulics could be heard and finally the Dropship landed with one last steaming sound, opening the hatch revealing the Hangar...

"Finally! We arrived back home, and to safety... wohooo" Silenx said a bit ironically and looked back at the team, Hurricane could now walk using some help, and mood brightened a bit as they all headed torwards the Squad's quarters, the title on the entrance door read "Archangels Haven", "Hmm, so these are the Archangels? no wonder they work so well in team..." Shade thought to himself and entered the Archangels quarters...

"Ok people pack up, and have fun while you can... you may go to your quarters except Shade, I want to talk to you please" Crypthief directed to his team and then turned his gaze to Shade, "Wait, Shade, do you have anywhere to stay in this HQ?" Hurricane asked out of curiosity, "Nope, I'm fresh new here...." Shade replied sighing, Hurricane felt it was the right time to make an offer "You could stay in my quarters if you want... I have two separated rooms, so there would be no problem at all!", "Oh... well... since I don't have anywhere to go, I guess I'll take up your offer" Shade said while smiling and winked, a smile creeped up Hurricane's face, she turned her head and headed torwards her room...

"Shade, here's what I was thinking... you squad was eliminated, you don't have any contact with your original HQ, plus you are new here... I want to make you another offer" Crypthief said with a serious tone in his voice that made Shade shiver a bit, "Oh? And what would that offer be? A good one I hope.." he replied to the squadleader with a defying tone.. "You might like it, what I'm offering is a place in the Archangels... a part in this team, from the looks of it you don't even have family to go to... and one more thing I need an answer now, my commanders are impatient and demand answers right at the time..." Crypthief informed Shade, revealing his offer, it made Shade open in mouth in surprise.. "Really? Well sure I'll take that offer, I don't have any other choice right now either..." he sighed and finally the squadleader let Shade alone "Fine then, I'll report to my superiors right now, and by the way welcome to the team." Crypthief stretching an arm and shaking Shade's hand "You may now go to your quarters.. be carefull Hurricane can be quite a "hurricane" sometimes, don't piss her off, this is just a warning" Crypthief finished with a smile and head torwards the Marine comand center...

Shade now had time to take a deeper look around the center of the Archangels quarters, several consoles decorated the walls, a big screen on the wall meant that it was the breafing screen, to the right of the entrance to the Archangels' quarters a corridor lead to the large section of individual quarters, to the left a corridor lead to the armory and the corridor right in front of the entrance and on the other side of the breafing room (center room) lead to the meeting room and game room...

"Lets download the area maps, I don't want to get lost around here..." Shade said to himself and procceded to a computer that read on the screen "Archives, Maps and Tactics", "Nice! right what I was looking for, now if you could just wait a little while..... done! lets check out the map of the quarters first..." Shade started studying the blueprints and when observing the Armory area he found an anomaly on the blueprints... "Wierd... this isn't supposed to be like this.." Shade said and to fulfill his curiosity he head torwards the Armory, and started looking for the anomaly, "Just one more step and... here it is!" Shade crouched and took off floor panel, revealing a hidden stash with a Double Barreled Shotgun inside it, "Now... what are the chances of that happening?" Shade was radiant and his face expressed his happiness with a large grin, "I think you and me are going to get along just fine" Shade said to himself and stood up waving his DBS (Double Barreled Shotgun) around, he wanted to try it out in real combat, because he had already used a DBS earlier with his older team, but on training range only...

With his newly found gun, he headed torwards Hurricane's quarters and entered with his DBS against his shoulder and was confronted by a different Hurricane... for starters she was wearing tight clothes, making all her considerable curves visible, Shade blushed while looking at her, she turned around and faced Shade "Hey there, welcome to my quarters, your room is over there if you wish to know" She directed to Shade, and only now noticed he was blushing and carrying a different gun, "What weapon is that?" She asked out of curiosity and approached Shade, "Well.. hum.. it's a .. Double Barrelled Shotgun... I found it in the armory" Shade replied her question a bit hesitantly, "Oh... the long lost Sarge's Double Barrelled Shotgun, you were lucky to find it... it was hidden here in our quarters by a brave marine, nobody knew where it was though, and in the first day you get here you find it! you never cease to amaze me" Hurricane said making herself blush now, Shade gazed upon Hurricane's eyes but had to break off from the hypnotic effects Hurricane had, "I just remembered... I don't have any clothes, I need to have mine transfered from the other HQ... but I'll go and arrange the room to my likings for now" Shade said, now more comfortable with the situation and walked to his room, "Don't worry about that transfer, I'll do that for you." Hurricane said in a helping act and Shade nodded with a smile "Thanks, and work on that leg of your's don't forget you were recently injuried..." after that he entered his room...

Earth Siege - Chapter 3 - Eminent Danger!

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine" Shade said with a thumbs up, "Remenber, if you need any help just use the intercom!" Crypthief said to Shade and Hurricane continued "We are here for you afterall...", "I thank you for your concern but really, I'll be fine" Shade said and ran torwards the direction of the explosion, leaving the line of sight of the team as he rounded up a corner...

Smoke was seen in a nearby building, the roof was broken and Shade approached the smoking area... the smoke dissipated to reveal something he had never seen before... "Huh? What is that?" He thought to himself with a puzzled face... the smoke cleared out and in the middle of the room, on the floor, stood a black and green orb, Shade approached carefully not knowing the nature of the sphere he didn't want to take chances or risks.. "Ok, let's see what this thing is... but I need to be careful, this may cost me my life!" Shade whispered to himself and was now in an arm's range of the glowing sphere, the surface of the orb now started changing and a face of an imprisoned beast danced around in the inside of the orb, but that didn't stop Shade from continuing to reach ever closer...

The marine stretched an arm and touched the surface of the orb, he suddendly felt revitalized... even resjuvesnated, he felt like he could take on everything or anyone, "This... this.. I.. feel like.. a GOD!" the orb slowly faded away and Shade felt some of the effects of the orb... his eye vision turned to a white, blue and yellow... everything was seen with those colors, "What happened? Why am I seeing everything like this? Am I changing?" Shade thought to himself and he turned on the helmet's inside camera to see his face, he was expressionless and his eyes glowed an intense yellow colouring... he heard a grumble behind him and he was hit by an incoming Flame ball, making him fall to the ground...

---LZ--- In the LZ the team patiently waited for the arrival of the scout... but there wasn't much time left on the clock, and it was still ticking... "Where is he? We can't afford to wait for him when the dropship arrives... or else we are risking getting ourselves dead down here aswell" Silenx said to the team and Crypthief nodded in acknowledgement, "Silenx... always think positive, there is no need to say things like that..." Breeze said with a recomforting voice and pat Silenx on the back, making him feel a bit of regret from what he said earlier... she was the only one that made him act 'different'.

"I refuse to leave Shade behind... we came here for him, and it is in our hands to bring him back to safety... if it is needed I'll offer myself to go look for him, I don't have any problems..." Hurricane said with a clearly upset tone in her voice, Blaze then agreed "I agree, we came for Shade and we are not leaving him behind.. no matter what!", Nop had the same opinion as the two of them and just nodded in agreement... Crypthief sighed and said "Yeah.. I guess you guys are right, you win... we shall wait for him until the dropship comes in about 15 minutes", Hurricane's expression changed to one of victory and she prepared her DEs, "ok people in positions, get some cover, we need to be ready for anything that comes to us before Shade arrives" Crypthief commanded and they all assumed positions... for their big surprise waves of demons could be seen in the far distance... moaning and screaming all the way, but still... it would take a long while before they reached the team.

The team didn't feel nervous, they were trained to have high standards in patience and also trained to control panic. "Hey, Silenx, don't crap yourself now ok?" Hurricane said laughing... "It would be worse if you died, I felt scared and took the shortest crap of my life on your body..." Silenx said trying to control himself, while Hurricane just laughed. Blaze's rocket launcher hungered for victims to experience the goriest end of their life, Silenx's plasma gun desired to bring forth death upon the demons.. burning everything in the plasma bolts path.. Hurricane's DE searched for a prey to hunt with unrellenting accuracy, Nop narrowed his eyes and cocked his chainguns, Crypthief did the same with his SMG and Breeze's thompson wanted to roar in the battle with almighty strengh, filling the enemys with holes... and they all awaited patiently for the arrival of the demons...

---Explosion site--- Shade got up, and turned to the direction of the Flame ball, "Show yourselves, and meet your already known fate!" Shade yelled out in the emptiness of the room, and suddendly 3 large demons appeard from the corners of the building and entered the room, they were known has Mancubus... they had 2 flame throwers mounted on their arms, their eyes were a pale green, they were walking hunks of fat.. like if they had obesity as a disease... they walked inside the room and started firing off Flame balls in the direction of Shade, he ran behind a corner and hid... he leaned and let out 2 shells on the oncoming demons, but he was to far way... "I need to get closer, otherwise my shotgun wont have much effect on them..." He thought to himself and when the time was right he ran torwards a another wall.

Unfortunately he was caught by one of the Mancubus who shot three Flame balls that hit Shade directly on the torso, he fell to the ground, he didn't feel pain admirably and the wounds that were inflicted upon his body started regenerating has if it was nothing... "What the...? is this the effect of the orb? Invicibility!" Shade got up, his eyes now had a more intense yellow glow and he ran torwards the nearest Mancubus.

Shade dodged the Flame balls and at point blank distance he fired two shells right in the demons face... a sum of 12 pellets ripped and torn the demons head... it exploded throwing blood and brain matter around the room. The second Mancubus opened fire over the marine but, for the demons unfortunate fate Shade was still invicible making the shots count for nothing. Shade ran torwards the second Mancubus and while pumping frantically he fired 4 shells into the belly of the fat demon, the flesh riped and the demons internal organs fell right in front of it making up for a slow and painfull death.

Shade found some cover to take out the third and last Mancubus, he felt wierd and suddendly his view turned back to normal... he felt tiredness creeping up on him as he reloaded 8 shells into his shotgun, filling up the chamber. "Man, I feel so damn tired... guess that a good thing can't always last forever..." he sighed and as he leaned on the corner to fire against the Mancubus, a Flame ball flew in his direction barely missing his arm.. he could feel the heat that emanated from the passing ball of flame, his flesh started to boil and burn, he could now feel pain again... the marine contained the pain and ran torwards the exit of the building, flame balls hitting the nearby walls as he dodged them and exited the building... with a Mancubus right on his tail!

---LZ--- "I'm tired of waiting, I'm going to get our man..." Hurricane said impatiently to the team, "No, you stay put he will come... don't worry, we will wait just a little more and then we will go get him!" Crypthief ordered Hurricane and she took the order against her own will. "Have faith people, if we indeed get him, don't forget that we have more demons to slaughter and maim!" Nop said pointing to the distance were demons could be seen marching on the direction of the team, still too far away for anyone to react. "But... I don't..." Hurricane was interrupted by explosions and flame balls that were flying out of a buildings corner, "What the hell is that?" Silenx asked and as soon as he did so Shade appeared into view runnin backwards, shooting his shotgun as fast as he could, he hid on the buildings corner and awaited for the demon to come into view...

The team readied themselves for anything, but could not open fire with Shade there, "Shade get out of there, we need a clear view so we can take him out" Crypthief said over the intercom, "No... I have this covered..." Shade said and awaited patiently, "But you are injured, you must not..." Breeze's voice was heard but was interrupted by Shade who replied "Shhhhh, silence...", everyone went silent and the mancubus demon appeard around the buildings corner, Shade landed a foot on the wall and did what looked like a wall jump, he met face-to-face with the demon and shouted "Chew on this!" he fired one shell, 6 pellets came out of the Shotguns end, piercing the air and soon the demons flesh leaving it like a disfigured facette as the corpse crumbled and fell with a loud *THUMP*.

The team was in complete awee for what he did, nobody thought that someone could jump that high, Shade made his way torwards the LZ and got into defence position, observing the demons in the distance... "Hum... well.... that.. was a great shot!" Nop said and he was backed up by Blaze and Crypthief who said "Indeed it was, how did you manage something like that?", "I just needed to think a little and believe... everything can happen then!" Shade said while smiling, Hurricane then interrupted and said jokingly "Haha, I liked it! you just had to think a little? I'd like to know what you can do when you think alot then...", "You wouldn't want to know" Shade said with a grin on his face that left the team puzzled, and stopped dead on their tracks, they knew something was behind that grin but couldn't tell right now what it was...

"People, attention the demons are approaching us, and they are going to be in firing range in a while!" Nop said to his team while observing the demons, they behaved like animals and hungered for human flesh and bone!, "Hurricane could you lend me one of your DEs please? I need to try something.." Shade asked Hurricane politely, "Well... I guess so, here" Hurricane handed one DE and behind her helmet she was radiant, of all the people in the squad he had to ask her for her gun, she found that cute.

Shade aimed down at the demons and waited patiently, they were almost at firing range of the squad... one of the demons got up and gave out a battle cry in acknowledgement of certain victory, but Shade calmly squeezed the trigger, and let forth an ear piercing shot from the DE that roared throw the air and gently landed on the Demons forehead, splattering it in blood. "Incredible! Great aiming there Shade!" Nop complimented Shade and Crypthief gave him a thumbs up, "Here Hurricane, thanks... by the way congrats, your DEs are very well tuned and tinkered!" Shade said stretching his hand to Hurricane who picked up her DE and behind her helmet she was mouth-opened, she didn't know her DE could do that.. "Yo.. Your welcome" She said to Shade...

"Concentrate, the demons will be in firing range in about 5...4...3...2...1... Fire at will!" Crypthief comanded his team and soon the whole street was engulfed by a magnificent show, rockets made the air hotter, accompanied by the blue light emanated from the plasma bolts... bullets flew, ricochetted of walls and tore flesh and bone to pieces, sounds of explosions a burnt smell and a cloud of red were felt and seen around the place as demons sustained heavy casualties but the danger was eminent.

Soon the incoming force replied with a hail of fire balls that were the speciality of the imps, plasma balls whose accuracy came from vulgars, and misguided shots that rarely hit where they should those were the art of the Former Humans... the team had to back down and get some cover, Shade decided to take on an attitude "With your consent Crypthief, may I give an order to the team?" Crypthief nodded to Shade and he continued "Blaze get up and fire 2 fast rockets at the ranks of demons, Silenx burn the former humans with your plasma bolts, Breeze and Hurricane you will have the pleasure to fire at will... and finally Nop and Crypthief you concentrate your fire on the demons aswell, I'll be the grenadier" Everyone nodded and plan went into action, Blaze got up, dodging the unholy attacks and let free two rockets that flew through the air, leaving a trace of black smoke and collided with the Demon ranks cutting them down in half, Silenx rained down blue death on former humans one plasma bolt equaled one kill, the other team members diminuished the numbers of the demons, in between the battle shouts like "Reloading" and "I need Ammo" could be heard and Shade decided to start throwing grenades, inflicting more casualties.. eventually the remaining demons where slaughtered and the street had a such a gross look to it that no one could ever gaze upon it.

Corpses, body parts, organs, mutilated torsos, and much more decorated the street floor, it was an unbearable sight, even for a Marine...
